In an age of mobile convergence, the ASUS Transformer Prime bridges that gap between tablets and netbooks.
The ASUS Transformer Prime is a Google Android tablet PC that can be connected to a removable keyboard to transform the tablet into a netbook with a battery life of up to 18 hours.
Whether it be connecting to your social networks, browsing websites, reading an e-book, listening to music, writing your latest blog post or even calculating figures on a spreadsheet it is all possible on the Transformer Prime.
With a 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen, you can write on screen with the on screen keyboard and flick through web pages and images with your fingers or you have the option with the keyboard dock using the physical keyboard for data input and a trackpad for moving between screens and menus.
32GB of internal memory provides storage space for lots of documents and media, but this can be further expanded by the microSDHC card slot and the ASUS Unlimited WebStorage that you get with the TF-201.
A powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 processor efficiently handles the multiple tasks and processes that you may throw at it and makes this one of the most powerful tablets to date.
Internet connectivity is achieved through the wireless connection, whilst other peripherals can be connected through the Bluetooth or USB connections found on the device. You can even output any content on the Transformer Prime to a larger HD display using the mini HDMI port connection (cable required).
A front facing 1.2 megapixel camera enables video chatting whilst an 8 megapixel auto-focus camera on the rear that records in 1080p (HD) gives more flexibility as to what use the Transformer for.
Google Android 3.2 is installed as standard (free upgrade to Android 4.0) and gives you access to all the Google services such as Gmail, GTalk, YouTube and street level navigation (uses in built GPS receiver) if required. Of course you also get access to Android Market as well and the wealth of apps available there, but ASUS do include Polaris Office (a premium app) for free.
When not docked the Transformer Prime can be used in portrait or landscape orientation and the in built sensor will orient the screen accordingly and the toughened Corning Gorilla Glass will protect the device from potential impacts and scratches that would normally damage a screen.
Whether it is business or personal use the Transformer Prime has lots of benefits and is worth consideration if you are in the market for a Tablet or Netbook alternative.
