LG G2 Mini Overview
Once mobile phones were big, then they became tiny. With the arrival of the smartphone, not only did the popularity grow, the handsets again did as well.
The word "mini" can always be associated with those super little cars bombing around the streets of Italy in the Italian Job, now it refers to the smaller versions of some of the world's most popular handsets; from HTC to Samsung and now LG.
The LG name has recently been associated with the Nexus range of devices. Both the Nexus 4 and 5 are great smartphones and this has helped the LG name find itself out in the public domain over the past few years.
Along with this, LG have taken advantage of the return to popularity, bringing us the incredible G2 - a super bit of kit offering a device with great specifications at a great price point.
A phone doesn't have to be expensive to be up there at the top.
The G2 Mini is running the latest version of Android: 4.4.2 KitKat and as such will give you access to some great new features as well as all your favourite apps through the Play Store.
LG have also added their own touch to the device with lots of value added extras from device customisation to really usable features such as customisable app tray and the ability to orient the home screen in landscape mode.
In terms of power the G2 Mini packs an impressive 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 Quad core processor. On top of that, the 1GB of RAM will go a long way to keep things running smoothly; and it really does, we have tested it.
Cameras have become an integral part of our lives, from taking shots of those quirky moments, to a family picture at a birthday party, or just a quick selfie. The LG G2 Mini has both a rear 8 MP camera as well as a 1.3 megapixels snapper on the front which is perfectly capable for Google Hangouts with friends and family who will all be visible on the 4.7 inch screen.
The camera has lots of controls for getting that perfect shot as well as up to 9 focus points and full HD video recording. A long press of the rear mounted volume down key and you have quick access to the camera, even when the device screen is locked.
Size doesn't really matter, it's all about what you feel comfortable with and some of us just don't want those big phones. They do say good things come in small packages and the LG G2 Mini is just that; small yet big on specification. It actually feels smaller in hand than Sony’s Z1 Compact which has a 4.3” display.
There is 8GB of internal storage, but the expandable memory card slot (microSD) will go a long way to helping you manage your storage.
Once you have the media stored on the phone, play it back on the IPS panel and listen to the audio through the stereo speakers, which really pack a punch with a very balanced tone and quality.
Use the built in IR blaster and remote control to control your audio visual equipment and make the conventional remote a thing of the past.
A user removable 2440 mAh battery will easily last the average user a working day, if not two, and even the most demanding user will be impressed with the battery performance.
The G2 Mini is packed with features and the only way to appreciate them all is to get hands on with the phone and use it, we are confident you will not be disappointed.
