Overview of LG Optimus 4X HD
The Optimus 4X HD is LG's first quad-core smartphone, following on from the manufacturer's introduction of the first ever dual-core smartphone just 12 months ago. Combining NVIDIA’s latest 1.5GHz Tegra 3 with a True HD IPS display, the LG Optimus 4X HD delivers PC-like performance in the palm of one’s hand.
When you handle the 4X and look at it, it is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy SII, just considerably more powerful. This provides it with a clssic look when compared to some of its more curvier competitiors. The squarer edges in fact make it feel more solid in the hand and less slippy than the curved edged HTC One X.
The 4X HD offers more than just the the power of quad-core processing, this is also a fully fleged HD multimedia experience. The NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor is the world`s only 4-PLUS-1 Quad-Core mobile processor designed for high-level multimedia performance, utilising a fifth battery-saving core to handle less demanding tasks such as active standby and music playback. When running at full speed, the 12-core graphics processing unit (GPU) in Tegra 3 delivers a visually rich experience and console-quality game playability.
A user removable battery is becoming a bit of a novelty now as more phones have integrated batteries, but the 4X battery can be removed and replaced if the 2150mAh capacity of one battery is not enough for you.
Equipped with the True HD IPS display, the Optimus 4X HD guarantees the finest viewing experience with high resolution, clarity and no colour or shape distortion. Put it next to the One X and it's right up there in terms of providing an immersive viewing experience.
The Optimus 4X HD includes 16GB internal memory but there is also a microSDHC memory card slot so you're not limited to the fixed storage as is fast becoming the norm with other devices. Of course there are always cloud storage solutions too (extra charges may apply).
LG Optimus 4X HD runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich a vast improvement over previous non-Nexus LG devices that have been running Gingerbread. The Optimus UI delivers a clean and sleek appearance without being too intrusive on the Android experience. There are plenty of customisation options from changeable backgrounds to apps from Google Play store.
Besides the smooth and fast performance, the Optimus 4X HD boasts a 8-megapixel BSI (Backside Illumination) Sensor camera with LED flash and advanced multimedia features to enrich the overall multimedia experience. Full HD 1080p video recording is also available for those who love their HD!
LG designers made sure that looks didn’t take a back seat to performance. The 8.9mm slim and sleek smartphone features a “prism-edged” design with enhanced materials and finish.
It might not be the most talked about phone; HTC and Samsung may get more coverage but it is by no means inferior and certainly one for consideration.
