Motorola RAZR MAXX Overview

The majority of manufacturers no longer offer extended batteries for those users that want a bit more juice. Motorola has taken this into consideration and created the RAZR MAXX, a handset that has an extended battery built-in.

The MAXX is the Motorola RAZR with a much bigger battery – an incredible 3300mAh instead of 1780mAh. This does of course make the handset thicker, although it’s still only 8.99mm thick and remains a thin device in the grand scheme of things. For many, the vastly improved battery life is worth the resulting increase in weight, which becomes 145g instead of 126g.

So just how much extra bang do you get for your bigger battery buck? Well, the RAZR MAXX will provide a stunning 17.6 hours talk time and up to 380 hours standby time, so even with heavy usage you can still go for up to two days without a charge. It also offers an incredible 16 hours of video playback, which is even more impressive when you stack it up next to the 8.5 hours of the Galaxy Nexus and 6.5 hours of the iPhone 4S.

Besides its bigger battery, and increased dimension, the RAZR MAXX has the same spec as the Motorola RAZR. It runs Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) on a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, features a 4.3” display and 8MP camera. There’s also 8GB of Internal storage, a microSD slot expandable up to 32GB and the usual suite of smartphone features, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and a 3.5mm earphone jack.

Recommend to a friend? Yes "The best phone ever used. Battery life is one of critical features for me and before that I had to have an additional or extended battery with other smartphone. Now with Razr Maxx I can use the phone for almost a week without charging. Great!!!!"

Yes "Nothing more to add over and above the other rave reviews except to say under normal usage for call and texts, plus occasional web surfing, the battery easily lasts 4 days for me....absolutely stunning. Let me tell you, once you experience a phone battery life like this, you will never want anything less. As FYI, I have now downloaded ICS and its great, Jellybean now on the cards."

Recommend to a friend? Yes "This is the best phone I have ever used and I have used Phones like the Ip4s and sgs2 a lot of HTC phones. And on or after the 21 of June this phone Gets even better as ICS will be on it's way. I have just got the game N.O.V.A. 3 for it and after 4 hours Game play still have 40% on the battery on most phones you will be lucky to play the game for that long. IMO the only phone that beats this phone is the sgs3 But after next week when this phone is running ICS The razor maxx and the sgs3 will be on par."

Recommend to a friend? Yes "I pre-ordered the phone as soon as Clove announced it and I've been using it for the past week. I'm not one to write reviews, but, I just had to share my thoughts on the best phone I have used to date (and I have used plenty)! Top notch build quality with a battery life that finally meets my needs! No more, fiddling about with settings-my brightness is at maximum and I enjoy 2 days of solid usage. From web browsing, emails, watching movies-this is perfect for my long commute to work. It also has top call quality and signal reception. Where as my previous Iphone & SGS2 had 1 or 2 bars in weak spots, this thing holds on with all bars-amazing! Motorola's Androids skin is elegant (not as good as HTC sense though) and everything is zippy and runs smoothly. Also the Motocast is a genuinely useful feature which has been very reliable for me. The only slight niggle is that the camera is not the best out there but does a decent job never the less. Finally a big thank you to the Clove team. Always friendly, supportive and well informed. There tech blog has been my top reference to the world of mobile technology. They display alot of passion for technolgy and I appreciate that. Once again this phone is definetly a must buy for power users-BUY IT! "
