Overview of Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro (DISCONTINUED)

The Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro has been discontinued. As a replacement we reccommend the HTC Touch Pro2.

The Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro is set to be one of Samsung's most impressive devices to date. It packs a 3.5" AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and is the first ever Samsung device to include a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The B7610 Omnia Pro will operate on Windows Mobile 6.5, which supports multiple push email accounts and features a new skin with panels that allow you to perform tasks such as composing mail. All of this is supported by an 800 MHz processor and 1 GB of internal memory.

AMOLED (Active Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology is a feature being incorporated into an increasing number of Samsung's new devices. This new technology produces brighter colours, consumes substantially less power and has a faster response time. The thickness of an AMOLED screen is less than half as thick as TFT LCD's, which are currently standard issue in most devices. Images can be viewed from any angle on an AMOLED screen, also making it ideal for viewing dynamic movies without afterimages.

The media features of the Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro are no shortfall, and with the capability to expand the device's memory up to 32GB via MicroSD, there is plenty of room to store music and videos. The B7610 Omnia Pro can play back a range of video and music formats, including MP3 and DivX. It also comes with a video/image editor, as well as TV Out functionality, so you can share your photos and videos with friends.

"this has to be the worst mobile phone that was ever made. Sometimes it rings, sometimes it doesn't. Wifi has never worked at all! Locks up everyday. Cannot unlock the screen quick enough to answer some phone calls. Absolute Tat."

"Having used lots of different windows mobile devices and phones over the years here is the verdict. Brilliant screen, great GPS, Great battery life for 3.5" screen, lots of on board software, good keyboard now for the bad.... very glitchy sofware at times i.e No SMS sound at times with sound on might work in morning and later does not plus other niggling software issues at times not sure if its windows mobile 6.5 or samsung UI that causes this even after hard reset it might work for a while but something different will appear before long. Hopefull firmware update will help this tried to ask Samsung but they were not helpful. POOR Wifi signal compared to other smart phones only getting 1 bar signal my last gave 5 !! My advice is unless you need windows 6.5 buy a symbian phone which is a lot more stable. The Guys at Clove are excellent and helpful if your not sure ask the experts."

"The following comments are from someone who used the phone ------------------------------------------ - I would go for the HTC touch pro2. I bought the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 and it’s the worst windows mobile phone I’ve ever had, slower than my old HTC P3300 and my imate Ultimate 9502. TouchWiz is very slow! You have to switch it off. The screen is very fragile, it’s easily scratched by the stylus. The in call sound is not that loud, the keyboard is ok but not excellent, etc."

"I have just bought the Samsung B7610, overall it's a good device but it doesn't wow me. The biggest disappointment is the fact that it is very slow. Its 800Mhz processor is slower than the 200Mhz in my HTC P3300 which is already 3 years old. The Touchwiz interface slows everything down even more. It's best to switch that off. Second disappointment is the screen. It's very soft and it scratches easily just by using the supplied stylus. Keyboard, camera, WiFi are very good."

"The new Samsung's processor S3C6410 @ 800MHz, also with rich features such a native 3D plus split peripherals control, make B7610 such a device putting it's other things on light like the 5MP camera, 32GB SD support, WiFi b g support, AMOLED TS etc. The only weak points are: 265 RAM (it would be al least 512, like the shitty HD2) No Dpad (yes, it have directionals on keyboard, but why not the Dpad) Shitty internal memory (we could immagine at least 8GB of internal memory, don't we?)"

"Seems to be one of the best devices of this year. If you don't need keeboard consider Samsung I8000 Omnia II - also great device."
