Overview of Samsung Galaxy S I9000 (8GB)

The I9000 Galaxy S is Samsung’s flagship Android device. The Galaxy S not only runs the latest version of Android (2.1), but packs a feature set sure to rival that of any other Smartphone.

So what sets this handset apart from other Android devices on the market? First of all there’s the 4” SUPER-AMOLED, touch-screen display. This new Super AMOLED technology developed by Samsung not only produces an amazing picture, it also saves on battery life, making the I9000 Galaxy S ideal for media playback and in-car satellite navigation.

As well as the cutting edge display, the Galaxy S comes with 8GB internal memory, the largest internal memory storage available on an Android device to date. With MicroSD storage, an additional 32GB can also be added to the memory. In terms of media storage and playback, this takes the I9000 above and beyond top of the range portable devices such as the iPod Touch.

Power and speed are also important features of the I9000 Galaxy S. The 1GHz processor ensures that device navigation is as smooth as possible, while the 3.5G connectivity provides the fastest possible mobile-internet browsing. With download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps, you’ll be able to make use of the device’s Facebook capabilities when out and about.

The Samsung I9000 also comes with an impressive camera. Besides that of the Sony XPERIA X10, which packs an astonishing 8MP camera, this is the highest spec camera seen in an Android device to date. The Galaxy S has a 5MP camera with auto-focus, capable of recording 720p video footage at 30 frames per second.

The other features of the I9000 Galaxy S at a glance are a 3.5mm headphone connection, Bluetooth 3.0, quad-band connectivity, Swype text input, Wi-Fi, FM Radio and compatibility with the vast majority of media types.

The large internal storage, combined with the Super AMOLED touch screen display, social-networking capability and access to the Android market place makes the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S a more than worthy competitor to other high-end devices such as the iPhone 3GS and HTC Desire.

The Galaxy S I9000 has been a very successful machine for Samsung since its release and has received some very positive reviews so far. The following is part of another good review of the device from James @ Tracyandmatt. Click here to read the full review. With a 4 inch display the Samsung i9000 Galaxy […]

Samsung Give away FREE Galaxy S I9000

With the whole iPhone antennagate debacle that has been going on Samsung earlier this week hit back at Apple’s claims that their devices too suffered from signal problems. Samsung’s PR team has come up with a fantastic scheme that in my opinion basically puts two fingers up to Apple and proves their confidence and how […]

HTC HD2 running Android 2.1, Android 2.2 & HTC Sense

PLEASE NOTE: APPLYING THIRD PARTY ROMS OR ROOTING YOUR DEVICE WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY WITH HTC. IF YOU DO APPLY ANY CUSTOM ROMS AS IN THE VIDEO BELOW IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. For a long time, an HTC HD2 running Android has sounded too good to be true. Now, thanks to XDA Developers […]

Turn your Samsung Galaxy S into a window with this AR App!

This is one of the better uses of Augmented Reality that I’ve come across so far. Road SMS is a free App to download, but is only available from Samsung’s own App store, not the Android marketplace, so you’ll need a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 to get yours hands on it. The App is quite […]

Samsung Galaxy S TV Out via 3.5mm headphone jack

Now this is an interesting feature of the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 that we were unaware of until now. Some Android devices can do video out using USB or HDMI, but the Galaxy S is the first handset that can do so using the 3.5mm connection. This is somewhat surprising considering that it is not […]

LCD vs AMOLED vs Super-AMOLED

via Engadget There’s been a lot of talk recently about new screen technologies in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. As Engadget puts it the ‘Achilles heel’ of the HTC Desire is the fact that an AMOLED display has poor readability in direct sunlight. Samsung has tried to remedy this with the Super-AMOLED display that […]

Good news, Swype, the text input method, is now available for Android users. Earlier this year we posted on Swype, how it works, and how quick it is for text input on a Touchscreen device. There’s also a video comparing it to the speed of texting on the iPhone. It’s now available from download from […]
