The Sony Xperia S (also known as the Xperia HD or Nozomi) is the first device to be released under the Sony brand. Featuring a range of new features, you won't be disappointed in you buy the Sony Xperia S as your next smartphone.
Debuting Sony’s ‘Iconic Identity’ design approach, the Xperia S sports a look that is instantly recognisable across all of the Xperia NXT series. A transparent element at the base of the phone creates an iconic silhouette, emphasizing and underlining the display. The element also integrates the phone’s antenna component and creates illumination effects.
The Xperia S is the most powerful Sony handset released to date, featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. While there is no MicroSD slot, there is 32GB of internal storage and, with cloud storage becoming ever more important, we may see an offer similar to Box’s 50GB of free storage for Sony Ericsson devices that is currently available.
The Xperia S combines top of the range software and hardware to offer some outstanding features. A MicroHDMI port means that the handset is easy to connect to a TV and the handset itself can then be controlled using the TVs remote. Click here to check out our demo with a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S.
No doubt most would agree that convergence means convenience and Sony has clearly taken this into account with the likes of Smart Tags, Smart Watch and Smart Wireless headset pro. Making use of the included NFC technology, Smart Tags can be scanned to trigger a function on the handset. Click here for a more detailed explanation and demo video.
The aforementioned Smart Watch is an evolution of the Sony Ericsson LiveView, designed to work in conjunction with the new range of Xperia NXT phones. It connects to your phone and then displays message notifications, emails SNS alerts and alike. A demo video can be viewed here.
Offering similar features to the Smart Watch, the Smart Wireless Headset pro also enhances the convenience of the Xperia S handset. It displays text messages, incoming calls, calendar notifications and more. It can also be detached from the phone to act as a standalone MP3 player and radio.
Of course, Sony’s other outstanding technology cannot be overlooked and especially not the 12MP camera with Exmor R, which takes photos in just 1.5 seconds from standby. With more features than you can fit in a paragraph, this is undoubtedly the best camera seen in a smartphone to date. Add to this the 4.3” 720p Reality Display, GPS GLONASS navigation, DLNA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a whole lot more, and you have a truly jaw-dropping handset.
