"I bought the Vodafone branded HP iPAQ Voice Messenger just before Christmas (in fact we bought 15 of them for work) as we couldn't wait any longer for a generic HP released phone.
And I have to say it's an excellent phone EXCEPT it's full of bugs and you will need to avoid it like the plague until HP issue new firmware to fix them. Unfortunately neither HP nor Vodafone can provide any support (neither have heard of the phone, can you believe?!).
The most serious bugs relates to the fact that you get no texts messages when your phone has been switched off and then turned on (in the morning for example). Normally you switch your phone on and should anyone have text you overnight (or perhaps when you're in a meeting) then the phone will not recognise them and display them at all. The sender gets a delivery report to suggest they've been sent to the device but you don't get them. Also, if you send a text message whilst having a weak or no signal the phone crashes and you need to restart it.
We have 15 of these phones and they all do it every time. Non delivery of texts (for business and for personal) makes the phone a non-starter I'm afraid.
There are about another 10 minor bugs too that are annoying but not the end of the world.
If only HP would respond and issue a fix I could recommend the phone but in it's current form it's the worst phone I've had for many years (and I've recently had the Samsung Omnia, HTC Touch Diamond, iPhone 3G etc.)

"Just taken ownership of this phone and I just can't get along with it at all.
It's really fussy to use, battery life is pathetic - fully charged and just died 24 hours later - rubbish!!
Bluetooth won't pair with my in-ar system whereas I've never had a problem with any other phone. Also, Winodws OS crashed at least twice in 24hours. And finally, not texts - signal keeps jumping between 3G to only SOS calls.
In summary - my opinion of this phone is it's rubbish and I'm ditching it after 36 hours of taken delivery. 'm going back to my Sony Ericsson which was simple to use and the battery lasted about a week.
The irony here is I work for HP......." John (Cardiff)
"The phone looks nice, but it have a lot of issues: battery life is a joke 24 hours just using it for calls nothing about push email, the optical mouse and the softkeys are a terrible do not work always, some times the phone gets slow and I have to do a hard reset in order to use the phone again, what about HP!!!, so now I'm using a Samsung i637 normal use for calls, push email from 8:30 to 19:30 every 30 minutes, and at the end of the day, it only used 1 of 4 in battery meter.
Any way, I want to do a flash with the UK rom from HP and an update to WM 6.5, after that I will come bak here to post my comment.
Best Regards!
Sergio" Sergio (Carmen, MX)
"I have really tried to use this device, but it was just too hard. I can't get used to the combination of pressing keys, softkeys and "in-the-air" scrolling. It is just to much to remember and when in a hurry one can get confused. Also the back of the device gets warm when using 3G.
To its advantage: the device is small and light." Benjamin (Amsterdam)
