With the upgrade to Windows 10, Microsoft has produced an operating system that perfectly moves between a mobile touch interface and a traditional desktop environment.
With a Linx 1020 you have an affordable and versatile home tablet for browsing, gaming and entertainment.
Even better though, as it is a full Windows 10 machine, you can install full desktop applications in case you need to do some proper work!
Linx know simplicity is key when manufacturing an affordable tablet. The 1020 is an understated slate with a grippy back panel and thick bezels to aid in holding the unit without interfering with the screen.
Power and volume buttons sit on one side, with the main speaker on the 'top' edge, just above the webcam.
The colourful 10-inch screen has a decent enough resolution to allow for quick browsing, watching videos, streaming content or getting down to do some work.
The 1020 is an entry level tablet, so you won't be running the latest gaming releases in super high definition or doing intensive tasks such as video editing. You'll be wanting a higher grade Windows device with an Intel Core processor for those kinds of tasks.
The specification though is robust enough to ensure a seamless experience when browsing, reading and editing documents or streaming online content.
The quad-core Intel® Atom™ processor is rated for 1.44 GHz, with a burst mode of 1.84 GHz when required. This processor is part of the newest x5-Z8350 (Cherry Trail) range for tablets and 2-in-1 devices, so you can be assured of getting some of the best in mobile technology for Windows devices.
Alongside the processor is 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 GB of flash eMMc storage.
Linx have also added a couple of full-size USB ports to the tablet.
Also don't forget the bundled keyboard! This has to be one of the most affordable all-in-one devices available today!
Each Linx 1020 has a number of ports available for enhancing its capabilities. On every model you will find:
- 2x USB 2.0
- 1x Micro USB (charging & data transfer)
- 1x Micro HDMI 1.4 (video & audio output)
- 3.5mm Headphone jack (audio output)
- Micro SDHC/XC card reader
- 13-Pin Connector (for connecting to display station)
The Linx 1020 also has Bluetooth 4.0 on board for pairing with wireless peripherals such as keyboards and mice. Linx have ensured the 1020 uses Dual Band (Wi-Fi 2.4 / 5.0 GHz) Wi-Fi, so you can connect to modern high-speed routers.
Compatible with both the Linx 820 and 1020 tablets, the Display Station (sold separately) allows you to create a simple media hub.
Industry standard wall mounting brackets mean you can attach a TV or HD monitor up to 29" Ultrawide. Then all you need to do is simply drop the tablet into the docking tab on the base of the Display Station.
Anything on-screen can be mirrored, making for an easy way to share videos or games. USB Gamepads (wireless via dongle) are also supported so you can jump right into the action.
The Display Station also has extra full-size USB ports. This is ideal if you want to turn the unit into a workstation as you can use a keyboard, mouse and other peripherals as you put your documents and browser tabs onto the big screen.
