Since the original unveiling of a next-generation console in 2019, by Sony. There has been a lot of speculation and excitement about what this will bring to gaming.

It has been confirmed that this next-generation console will be called the PlayStation 5, and is due for launch in time for Winter 2020.

As you expected, the specification has been completely updated, including the development of a new controller. This will have haptic feedback to replace the “rumble” technology found in previous controllers. This change to haptic will offer gamers an increased range of feedback for a more immersive experience.

Adaptive triggers are another innovation of the new controller. Enabling developers to program resistance into the triggers, so you can feel a more tactile sensation. The examples given by Sony are “the sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain”.

Sony has so far confirmed the following specifications.

    • Bespoke 8-core AMD chipset (based on third-generation Ryzen architecture and with Navi GPU) supporting ray tracing, for improved graphics.
    • SSD storage system for faster loading times, and a more responsive system.
    • Backwards compatibility with PS4 games and PSVR hardware
    • 3D audio for a more immersive experience
    • 8K TV support with Ultra HD 4K Blu-Ray player, so you can expect incredible visuals
