Sony SmartWatch 3 Overview
Building on past experiences Sony have developed the SmartWatch 3 to be the smartest of all the SmartWatches.
Equipped with Android Wear, Sony has evolved from their custom OS to bring them on par with the likes of Samsung, LG and Motorola.
However Sony has set out to make their SmartWatch 3 the best for several reasons.
A relatively new product, SmartWatches have a place, but research suggests that more than 50% still wish for a smartwatch to log their fitness and activities. As such the SmartWatch 3 boasts Sony’s Lifelogging technology that works in conjunction with your Android smartphone to keep track of your daily, weekly and monthly activity. From steps to calories it is all recorded.
The watch itself has its own built in GPS chip, accelerometer and 4GB of internal storage designed for storing music on the wrist and not on the phone. Connect a set of Bluetooth headphones to the watch and you can stream that audio to them and control it all from your wrist. No need for a smartphone to be involved.
IP68 rated, the watch will withstand immersion in water and can be worn all day with little in the way of limitation. Even wear it in the shower if you like.
A stainless steel core ensures longevity and rigidity, whilst the different colour band options (sold separately) ensure you have the most suitable design for you.
Interact with the 1.6” touchscreen display or, of course, use the ‘Ok, Google’ command to give voice prompts to your wrist. Using the internet connection on your paired smartphone you can get key information right on your wrist.
The Android Wear software is incredibly powerful and, thanks to an extending portfolio of applications in the Google Play Store, you can get all of your notifications from various apps, respond to text messages and emails, play music, track your run, use a calculator or even remotely operate your smartphones camera, directly from your wrist.
The built in 1.2Ghz processor should keep things running smoothly whilst the 420 mAh battery should allow for up to 2 days usage.
If you are always on the go, always looking to your phone for notifications, and wishing to track your fitness then the SmartWatch 3 could save you time and effort and also make you more productive.
Colour options and versions
The SmartWatch 3 is available to buy boxed in 3 separate versions. All versions allow for the core unit to be removed and put into another strap (sold separately).
The metal version features links in a traditional watchstrap style with a standard traditional folding clasp. The black version is made from a silicone material and has perforated holes with a buckle clasp. The green version is also made from a silicone material and has a 'sports' clasp with a slider for easy adjustment on the move.
